Lymphatic drainage
A slow, light massage that follows the path of the lymphatic system.
Lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage. It helps lymph to circulate, supports cell regeneration and assists the immune process.
What it acts on
- The nervous and autonomic systems, with a calming effect
- The muscles, particularly where there is hypertonia
- The clearing of lactic acid towards the lymphatic pathways
- Oedema, inflammation and ulcers
- The body's defences, by supporting lymph flow
- Bowel transit
How a session works
The movement is slow, superficial and repetitive. It has nothing to do with a vigorous massage: the pressure stays very light, because the lymphatic vessels sit just under the skin. A session lasts between thirty and sixty minutes depending on the area.
Drainage is also carried out after certain operations, on medical advice. An initial assessment is still needed.
Not sure this applies to you?
The initial assessment helps determine whether this treatment is suitable for you. The treatment is carried out on your doctor's prescription.
